Big Donation

Well, it turns out that the odds were 50-1 that the first score of the game would be a safety, and Jona Rechnitz, a Giants fan, had placed $1,000 on the wager. $1,000! That's a lot of money to pay on a longshot.

My first thought when Tom Brady was flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in a safety for the Giants, was "I wonder what the odds were for that in Vegas."

Lucky for him, it paid out, and he's announced he's going to donate the money to charity. He's going to give a portion to a charity of Brady's choice, as well as a portion to the preferred charity of Justin Tuck, the Giants DE that forced Brady to make that error.

For such a long shot bet to pay off, that's a lot of money to give to charity. $50k in winnings? I'm not sure I could do the same.
